​French as a Second Language information sessions, registration this January http://orc.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/26​French as a Second Language information sessions, registration this January <p>​</p><p>The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) offers French Immersion (FI) and Extended French as a Second Language (EFSL) at select schools throughout the county. In January, information sessions will be held for parents, and registration begins later that month.<br><br>FI begins in Grade 1 and is offered at 12 elementary schools. EFSL begins in Grade 5 and is offered at 10 elementary schools and eight secondary schools. These programs give students a bilingual education and the opportunity to become fluent in a second language.<br><br><strong>Information sessions</strong><br>Elementary schools that run FI or EFSL will be hosting an information session for parents of children in Senior Kindergarten and Grade 4. Parents who do not have Internet access at home, or who require other assistance accessing the online application, should contact their school.<br><br>The <strong>FI application form will be available from 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015.</strong><br><br>While every effort will be made to accommodate all FI applications, available space and staffing will determine how many students can be registered in the program. Applications will be processed in the order they are received electronically. One application form must be completed for each child.<br><br>The EFSL application form will be available from<strong> 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 22, 2015.</strong><br><br>EFSL is an open access program. This means that any student starting Grade 5 in September 2015 will be eligible for the EFSL program, and all online applications will be processed. One application form must be completed for each child. <em>Please note: The 2016-17 school year will be the final year for a student to apply for Grade 5 EFSL. When the Grade 1 FI cohort reaches Grade 5 in September 2017, EFSL will be phased out on a year-by-year basis. Registration in EFSL for Grade 5 will not be available within the SCDSB in September 2017.</em></p>
Provide input on proposed 2015-16 school year calendarhttp://orc.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/25Provide input on proposed 2015-16 school year calendar<p>​The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) invites public school communities to submit input regarding the proposed school year calendar for next school year (Sept. 2015 to June 2016).</p><p>Input can be provided by visiting the SCDSB's <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/Schools/Pages/School-Year-Calendars.aspx" target="_blank">School Year Calendar page</a>. </p><p>All stakeholders including staff, school council members, parents/guardians, students and members of the school community are invited to provide input. </p><p><strong>Feedback is invited until Jan. 9, 2015</strong> to ensure the SCDSB meets school year calendar development timelines set by the Ministry of Education.</p>

Credit Card payments are accepted.</p><p><strong>Newsletters</strong><br>All of our monthly school newsletters will be posted on the <a href="/parents/newsletters"><span lang="EN-CA" style="text-decoration:underline;">Newsletters</span></a> page under Parents. Bus cancellation information in case of inclement weatherhttp://orc.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/20Bus cancellation information in case of inclement weather<p>​Although fall has just arrived, winter is just around the corner in Simcoe County. With it comes the possibility of severe weather, challenging winter driving conditions and, as a result, possible bus and school event cancellations. </p><p>All information regarding cancelled buses in Simcoe County is posted on the Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium's bus information website at <a href="http://www.simcoecountyschoolbus.ca/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">www.simcoecountyschoolbus.ca</span></a>.  Check our <a href="/about-us/transportation">Transportation</a> page to see which zone our school is in. School bus ‘Bag Tag’ program helps students get to and from school safelyhttp://orc.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/18School bus ‘Bag Tag’ program helps students get to and from school safely<p>​</p><p>The Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium (SCSTC) launched the Bus Tag<strong> </strong>program this September.<strong> </strong>The Bus Tag program supports safety for JK/SK and other school-identified students by<strong> </strong>providing a process to match students to their assigned afternoon school bus and to also<strong> </strong>identify they must be met by a parent or guardian at their afternoon bus stop.</p><p>The program provides:</p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>a colour coded bus tag with the assigned p.m. route number to be attached to the student's backpack</li><li>a colour-coded route card with route number in the windows of the school bus that the Bus Tag is matched to</li></ul><p>The SCSTC and Bus Operators have policies and procedures that are used on all school vehicles to ensure students in JK/SK and other school identified students are met at their afternoon bus stop.  It's the parent/guardian's responsibility to meet Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten and other identified students at the bus stop .The Bus Tag program has been established to assist both the schools and school bus drivers to load these students on the correct afternoon bus and identify they are to be met at their bus stop by a parent/guardian.
